Nancy Havlik’s Dance Performance Group and guest artists perform Dream States, an evening of dance, music and poetry performance at Dance Exchange, Takoma Park on November 5, 2022.

Dream States explores memory and reminiscence in a mixed program incorporating dance, live music, poetry and improvisation. Guest artists include Karin Paludan (soprano), Nikola Paskalov, nationally-acclaimed poet Regie Cabico and Arts for the Aging’s Quicksilver Senior Dance Company.

This program will be performed on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 8pm at Dance Exchange, 7117 Maple St., Takoma Park, MD 20912

The Program:

In Knoxville: Summer of 1915, the Company collaborates on stage with soprano Karin Paludan and accompanist Nikola Paskalov in a meditation on memory and reminiscence, set to Samuel Barber’s lushly textured setting of James Agee’s prose poem.

Sentimental Journey sees Arts for the Aging's Quicksilver Senior Dance Company and guest dancers utilize chairs, space and intimacy in a sepia-tinted evocation of bygone train journeys. Live accompaniment is proved by Ben Broderick Phillips and Miles Spicer on guitars, with additional vocals by Spicer.

Additional spoken contributions come from nationally acclaimed poet Regie Cabico. The evening is completed by an improvisation from the full company and guests, celebrating the joy of live collaborative artistic creation.
